November 17, 2021 was our travel day to Arizona. We left Joshua Tree in the morning and hit the road. It was a pretty boring drive, just desert but beautiful and peaceful at the same time. Gave me lots of time to reflect and think.
While we drove, my emotions were getting the best of me once again. I was thinking about Thanksgiving the following week and how much I always love hosting! Just bittersweet. This was our 8th day on the road and we were at slightly over 1,000 miles. We had been traveling every day for 7 straight days and it was exhausting.

Spent a peaceful night in Lake Havasu but in the morning, we noticed a screw in one of the trailer tires! So we needed to get it repaired before we hit the road. We found a tire shop. It was $20 and 20 minutes and it was DONE. Never, ever would it have been that cheap and that fast back home!
We quickly continued our drive to Kingman, Arizona. We used our Harvest Host membership and stayed at Desert Diamond Distillery. I was a bit of a mess as my dad was back in the hospital due to Covid. I was scared that he wasn’t going to make it and stressed about traveling. When we arrived at the Distillery, I was kind of a hot mess. Well the sweet family that owes the Distillery, treated me like family and soon I was feeling much better. They have an awesome railway car that they serve lunch/dinner in. It was so awesome!

November 19th: The plan was to spend the night in Congress, AZ and stay at an Escapees RV Park so that I could pick up mail from the local post office. Well, let me tell you that RV Park was a huge NO. We’re kind of picky on where we’ll stay and that was a no. It was a long drive so I was already frustrated and grumpy and I really wanted my mail. Even though we didn’t stay in Congress, it was a success because I got MAIL!!!
We decided to attempt to find a place to stay nearby in Wickenberg. We found this cool, boondocking place called Constellation Park! My patience was about done at this point and I was full on grumpy. As I was attempting to direct Bobby backing up into the spot, what did I find?? This amazing rock. Apparently, I was taking myself WAY too seriously and I needed to remember who loves me. Humbling moment.

Wickenburg was awesome. We spent the day exploring the downtown area having great food, good beer and lots of fun shopping. It was a great non-travel day!! The next day we woke up early to terrible sounds! We discovered it was just the wind! lol. Next, we had problems getting the furnace to start. I was beginning to stress out! We figured it out and all was good. I went for a wonderful solo run…seeing cactus instead of California beaches was sure different!

After a wonderful run and breakfast, we headed out to Prescott National Forest. Had a beautiful drive and fell in love with the area. Arrived at our campground, Point of Rocks RV Park.

Went for a quick hike and then hit the road to visit Jerome. Jerome did not disappoint! Amazing drive through the Black Hills Mountain range. The views in Jerome are amazing. Had some great lunch, bought WAY too much wine, drank too much beer, and wandered around shopping!

Work up early for a hike to Watson Lake. So beautiful and peaceful. It’s so easy for me to get distracted by too much travel, missing home, figuring out where we’re going to stay next and then I see the beauty around me and once again am reminded of how great this journey really is!

After a great morning, we spent the day in Prescott shopping! We are such suckers for gifts for family and friends!
On the 24th, we traveled to Sedona. This was one of the top places I wanted to visit! We had decided to boondock while in Sedona. We found our campsite down Loy Butte Road. I challenged Bobby to back the trailer into the “perfect” site. It was a nightmare and was so scary. We spent the night worried the trailer was going to fall off the levels. We made it! The next morning, we drove further down Loy Butte Road to find another campsite and found a great site with a great view! While looking for a site, we discovered an easy hike to some ruins! Talk about amazing!!!

We spent Thanksgiving in Sedona and enjoyed the beauty all around us. The next day we went on our Helicopter ride!!! THIS WAS THE BEST RIDE EVER!!! It was “doors off” and about 1.5 hours in the air!

On the 27th, we headed south. We stayed at Desert Shadows RV Park in Phoenix. It was just a good place to do laundry and take care of business.
Finally we were headed to Tucson! We stayed at Catalina State Park in Tucson! Awesome park! We highly recommend. Great views, hikes, and close to town.
November 30th, we were on our way to Tombstone! We stopped in Benson to gun shop (couldn’t buy a gun) and then made a quick trip to Kartchner Caverns. Nice caverns but not our favorite! In Tombstone we stayed at Wells Fargo RV Park. We had a great night and met some great people. Great experience!

Our Arizona trip was amazing! We were sad to leave. We enjoyed every moment! We were so excited for the next places we would adventure to!
